I thought that once a CCJ had been on yr record for 6 years it dropped off completely giving you a clean record.
Not so!!!!! Just checked my husband's Credit Report & whilst the CCJ (which was paid just after the month allowed & for a relatively small sum) has dropped off completely i.e. no record of amount/court/paid etc it is still showing under the heading of Financial Associations.
Therefore anyone looking at your credit report can see you have had a joint judgement!! and even worse they haven't a clue how much you owed and whether or not you paid it off which I think it is worse.
They say searches (hard) drop off too after about 24 months but NOT if you make a joint application that stays on your record indefinitely.
We got into difficulties in 2006 and applied for new mortgages/credit etc and there are quite a few searches on our records which I am now told will remain on there. No way of removing them unless we are disassociated which means we cannot live at the same address etc. Fuming as we have been "clean" for the last 6 years.
Hmmm think I'l start looking for a flat or someone with a spare bed, any offers!!!!
Anyone got the same problem or can think of any other solution.
Thanks

Sorry forgot to say that we cannot disassociate ourselves as we still share Finances i.e. Mortgage & Bank account. So we would have to put this in just one name if that can be done.
