Hi all - wonder if anyone can help - I have worked for a large retail company for 6 years - I was internally promoted to assistant manager approx 3 years ago - was offered a new pay rate and because of the secrecy in the company agreed to it as it was impossible to find out if it was fair or not - there doesn't seem to be any pay grades for promoted staff.
I have now found out that a colleague doing the same job is on substantially more than me (£6000 more) - we have the same responsibilities and work the same total hours. The difference is that they have been recruited from another employer - my colleague is very inexperienced and I have been training her how to do our job - I have nothing against this colleague but I just wonder if I have a case against my company for unequal pay - can't be right that we are employed to do the same job but get paid substantially different rates ?
Any constructive advice would be gratefully received.
