  • Advice needed

My mum has just been put into a permanant long term care home by my sister and my sister says that she needs to sell my mums house to pay for the care. I know that there are other options such as NHS Continual Care that may be available and therefore the need to sell my mum's house does not have to happen. My sister has acted really quickly on this matter and as she is a social care professional she will be aware of the NHS Continual Care. I am concerned that she is trying to make a quick sale and pocket my mum's cash and saying that the money is being used for the nursing home when in fact she may have already applied for the NHS Continual Care. How can |I stop the sale of the house until I get all the facts. my mum has dementia and has only been in the home for a week . I was told about this by a 3rd party who is concerned and my sister has since verified this, stating the reasons above. I have cared for my mum and know that she didnt want to be put in a home and the NCC could possibly pay for home care. My sister does have Power of attorney

    Please help

If you have evidence that your sister is acting improperly you can ask the OPG to investigate, assuming the LPA has been registered (and if your mum has lost mental capacity the LPA is not valid until it is registered).

ETA - CHC funding is not easy to obtain and a diagnosis of dementia does not carry automatic entitlement for that.
