Hi just joined need advise my parents won't me to go guarantor for my sister for rental property she has bad record for paying and has just been evicted sleeping on my floor at min,I don't want do it but feel pressured what can I do it making me ill worrying

Tell them in a polite manner that you are not comfortable being used as a guarantor for your sister who has a history of not being able to pay her debts etc. evidenced by the fact she has been evicted and is staying with you. Suggest if they have the confidence that she can pay her way in future they are free to put themselves forward as her guarantor, but you will not do so or be pressured into it.

Entering into a guarantee is a serious legal commitment and can cause the guarantor major problems, even if it is for a close relative.
If you are unhappy say a firm no.

Have to agree with the others, I think you are being very wise in saying no, its tough with family but if something went wrong with your sister paying her rent, it wouldn't just be her credit rating she cocks up..... is there a reason your parents cannot be guarantor for your sister ?

thanks every one for your help my dad lives in Portugal so not on electoral list and my mum isn't either so they can't do it I think I will email dad and mum explane I can't do it and prepare to face the conciquenses

I think the standard advice is never act as guarantor unless you can afford to lose the sums of money involved.
