  • Solicitor Billing

    Hi there,
If anyone can help me. Can a solicitor bill you if they have not sent you an initial letter listing their fees to you in detail and then have you sign it as acceptance?
I have been billed by a solicitor for work carried out, but he made it known to me at the end of proceedings his fees, I was never given an official breakdown or notice as to what he was charging me for or how much. His only proof
are so called attendance notes, of which even those say something different to the actual sum he asked me for.

    Thank you

    Re: Solicitor Billing

Hello TA Palmer and welcome to LB.
    "Yes" is the short answer.
A buyer of any goods or services is expected to ask the price, get an estimate or a quotation.
If you feel that the fees are excessive, you can apply to the court to undertake a process called "taxing".
Have you asked the solicitor for their justification?
