MKRR. I completed a Financial Management Plan with the CAB a couple of years ago. One of my creditors was MKRR and I pay them £1 per month.
Today, I was pulled out of my work (am a Teacher) and into the office for a PERSONAL phone call from someone called 'Kim'. My colleagues left the office so that I could take a 'personal' call.
Honestly, I was extremely concerned about a personal call at my work. I have a daughter (16) and NO ONE would EVER call me at work unless it was EXTREMELY URGENT.
Turned out that 'Kim' was not personal. It was MKRR calling me.
When I asked 'Kim' her surname she refused. She kept insisting I go through 'security' questions before she would explain how she had found my work number ( I didn't disclose this). I explained I was unhappy with the breach of the Data Protection Act and I had not given my works number to MKRR and asked her where she had received my works number. She gave me the number to complain (expect it is generic number) 0330 3001004.
I asked 'Kim' how on earth they had my work number (have DEFINITELY not disclosed it) and she told me she got it from 'their' database sources. This is against the DATA PROTECTION ACT.
I am outraged that I was called into the office at work for what would have been an emergency call yet turned out to be a breach of my privacy due to MKRR using databases that do not have my permission to share my employment details with said company.
Does anyone have advice? Am going to take this further but would appreciate legal advice as to how best to deal with this completely inappropriate and professionally embarrassing breach of conduct?
