    Re: train2game

Hi not sure if I am posting this correctly .first time!
My son took out a gaming course with train2game about 5 months ago after the sales man visited his home and talked him in to it after he had expressed a possible interest.
It is an online gaming course funded by caledonian consumer finance. The charge of authority form has, career finance 4 trade skills ltd , on it. and the registration form has train 2 game on it. and the finance form simply says pre contract credit information(standard european consumer credit agreement information)
He was told the course was to be done by a combination of on line, postal and telephone with full tutor support and check ups and that any problems simply retake those section until you pass.He was told it could easily fit around your current job.
He was also told the price was going up ,so to sign up now with the finance offer to secure the price.
The (advisor) salesman convinced him the qualifications on offer were needed if you were to have any future career in the gaming industry!
I do believe as a young man living on his own trying to find a future he was given the hard sell and his desire to better his future working life were taken advantage of
Why. Firstly he is dyslexic and he told the advisor this and needed help for such at collage ,so would not have understood all of the contract which he was signing and second the advisory knew he had no internet access in his flat and had only limited access usage to it through friends and family. yet the adviser told him he would be able to still do the course as full support is given.
Well it isn't he has to keep calling them expressing his concerns and no one ever calls or checks on him. even when after two months no work is done.
Having seen all of what is on here I have told him to cancel the direct debit payments.
Any help or advice about this and what to expect will be appreciated.

      Re: train2game

      Hi Jacob1991
We have made a complaint with FSO ombudsman, who say finance company (Caledonian Finance )have done nothing wrong, my son signed contract and therefore has to pay, so he has continued to make payments, was told by ombudsman how T2G conduct their business was matter for the FCA Financual conduct authority but they do not deal with individual cases, but I did make a complaint and did get a response, will att , not sure what we can do from here other than court, only to be outwitted by this company, which could end up costing as much as the original debt.

          Re: train2game

i see in the attachment it says that train to gain are no registerd since 2014 but on the back of my sons registration form is a consumer credit licence number for marlborough information services. who like caladonian are part of train 2 game if you check this licence number out it says
Firm name: Marlborough Information Services Ltd
          Interim Permissions reference number: 627584

Consumer credit business Entering into a regulated credit agreement as lender; and exercising, or having the right to exercise, the lender's rights and duties under a regulated credit agreement. Active
          Credit brokerage Credit broking
          Or
Credit broking limited to credit intermediation
          Active
No right to canvass off trade premises

Am I right it believing that if they have no right to trade of premises, it means ,they had no right to get my son sign this credit and registration form in his home telling him it had to be done through their financier. or does it mean they can trade and offer fiance products anywhere they choose or happen to be ?

            Re: train2game

Consumer Credit Act 1974 sec 48 defines "canvassing off premises".
Sorry, but I think (1) b is their let out clause (not carried out in response to a request made on a previous occasion)

Definition of canvassing off trade premises (regulated agreements.)

            (1)
An individual (the " canvasser ") canvasses a regulated agreement off trade premises if he solicits the entry (as debtor or hirer) of another individual (the " consumer ") into the agreement by making oral representations to the consumer, or any other individual, during a visit by the canvasser to any place (not excluded by subsection (2)) where the consumer, or that other individual, as the case may be, is, being a visit—

            (a)
carried out for the purpose of making such oral representations to individuals who are at that place, but

            (b)
not carried out in response to a request made on a previous occasion.

            (2)
A place is excluded from subsection (1) if it is a place where a business is carried on (whether on a permanent or temporary basis) by—

            (a)
            the creditor or owner, or

            (b)
            a supplier, or

            (c)
the canvasser, or the person whose employee or agent the canvasser is, or

            (d)
            the consumer.

Has anyone managed to get out of both contracts one with the company and the other with the lender>/These must be 2 separate contracts in law by cancelling one it surely does not cancel the other.

Hi to all if you have ever signed up to Train2Game Skillstrain etc I suggest that you go onto google and type in skillstrain under scrutiny watch the Video with Robert Ager write everything down regarding sections 5-7 of the consumer protections for unfair trading regulations 2008 and write to train2Game regarding this and the website etc. You will then receive a letter saying sorry Mr/Mrs etc here is the course cancelled as a goodwill gesture. Any questions feel free to PM myself.

                    Thanks for the reply.
Have just been looking on the internet and notice that in April this year TIGA cut its association with train2game and will no longer support or endorse their computer courses or distance learning programs. This means the course my son signed up to and the industry recognized qualifications endorsements and accreditation they told him he would gain and is paying for is no longer true.

                        Hi sloan82
I have quoted all of these points in complaint letters to T2G and got nowhere they just continue to say it is my responsibility to keep up the payments.
