Hi
Am looking for some help with a vodafone problem
I left the UK in May last year moving to SE Asia. On my way out I had my handset stolen at Gatwick Airport with £26.40 credit on it but did not have the time to report it. Whilst over there I kept checking to see if the credit had been used but unfortunately there was no email contact on the website and to make a phone call was prohibitive due to cost.
I returned to the UK on the 18th February and noted that there was still £26.40 credit on my account and I tried to call my old handset number which was still live but no answer. I tried on several occasions calling the vodafone customer non service line with no answer and I eventually sought help from thier online forum which states manned by vodafone employees.
I got a reply on the 20th asking to forward details which I did and got no response.
On purchasing a new handset and reading the two leaflets I noted that i could have kept the number. However this stated that it needed to be reported as stolen within 270 days and that any unused credit would not be refunded.. This was in March.
As I reported this on the 19th February I was well inside my time to have my number returned to me but I got some arrogant customer non service manager just telling me it was tough, you lost it all.
Surely as this was reported within the 270 days and even though I had no response I should have got my number back. I am not too well off at the moment as I am retired on a small pension and waiting for admission to hospital and wish to return to my wife in Asia. The £26.40 would certainly help me keep in touch with her
Is this not just pure theft. Can you imagine that if 1,000 people let a PAYG phone with £26.40 go that Vodafone have grabbed £26,400 for doing nothing.
Sorry but this has really p****d me off
Any help in getting this credit (not too worried about the number now) back much appreciated
