  • Marstons and Anglian Water problem

Hi everyone, I am a newbee on here!

I am really worried as in 2012 I got a CCJ with Anglian Water, my bills were really high and I got behind and Anglian Water are now sending someone out next week to check my meter and if I have a leak!!
I got behind with my payments as everything was getting on top of me personally my health. I was paying Anglian Water £20 per month but I didnt make every month.
Out of the blue last Friday without notice a bailiff from Marstons came to my door (was at work my husband answered) he said that he was an enforcement officer and worked for the court and that I owed Anglian Water and he gave my husband a letter which obtained a Notice of Seizure and the amounts of :-
    Judgement Debt £1213.20
    Judgement Costs £181.25
    Execution Costs £51.75
    Interest to Date £8.21
Officers Fees £414.91 (fees will be increased by 29p per day whilst in possession)
    Dont know what that means.

I actually owe Anglian Water £765!

    Total levy £1239

but as my husband did not let him in he took the registration details of our car on the drive which is in my husbands name and is worth alot more than £1200.

My husband rang me at work and I said I didnt owe Anglian Water over £1200! The bailiff went.
I got home and rang Anglian Water to find out what was going one as they had not sent my any notice that they were transferring my account to Marstons. They said they wrote to me last August 2013 to say that they could use collection procedures or go back to court. But I have paid some amounts since then. I said that the problem is my bills are too high and they are now sending someone out next week to check or replace my meter and check for a leak as the dial is still going round when the water is off! They have told Marstons to put my account on hold for two weeks whilst this is going on. Anglian Water will not accept any payments from me I have to use Marstons. Marstons will accept instalments but that same bailiff has to come back (fee free they say) to come into my house to take a notice of my possessions so that there is some security so that I can pay by instalments.
    Im scared.
If Anglian Water find a problem with my meter/water they said that they will recalculate my bills but would more than likely take it off my present bill rather than an old one. Anglian Water have also told me that I only owe them £765 but I cannot pay them directly!!
I feel that I am stuck as Marstons want £1239 to include their fees but I feel unfair as Anglian Water debt is only £765 and I was not informed of the transfer of account to Marstons.
Someone please help me. Thank you.

Hiya, Just to check a bit, the CCJ you had in 2012 was for an installment order of £20 a month and you missed some payments? Did you dispute the bills at the time before you got into a pickle making payments ? (just isn't clear from your post)

Hi thank you for getting back so quickly 😄
the CCJ instalments were for £40 but anglian water adjusted it to £20. I did mention high bills at the time but not auctioned anything.
