Hi my name is laineynic, 4 years ago I started with severe heart problems and after a long battle I was finally awarded DLA. The 18 months whilst trying to get DLA has brought us a all load of financial problems. We have mortgage arrears and have been treated badly by GE Money. Instead of helping us get through it they have closed the door. Lloyds Tsb has been a nightmare to deal with and have again been unhelpful.
My biggest battle has been with the DWP for DLA, they messed up my claim in 2011. My claim was truthful, I had evidence to back back what I was saying. Just before the tribunal I was asked by the clerk to the tribunal for a letter that was not enclosed. It turned out my Dr had filled in the form for my claim for DLA and had advised she had enclosed a letter from my Cardio Thoracic Surgeon. This letter had vital evidence to prove my mobility was not good, it said I had angina at rest and at slight movement. It also said I had dypsonea and the extent of how this was affecting me. She had not sent the letter despite saying it was there, the DWP had not requested it and the Tribunal asked me to get a copy. I asked for a copy of the letter but they didn't get the letter to me in time. I was humiliated at a tribunal by a Dr who treated me as a scrounger and gave me a thorough going over as if it was his money. A I lost at the tribunal and was more or less told there was nothing wrong with me.
Since then I have been fighting to get the DLA that should have been paid in 2011, I have complained to the DWP, they say that enough evidence was provided, it was referred to ICE, they agreed with the DWP. I went to my MP and he recommended that I went to the Parliamentary ombudsman, they have agreed with Ice and the DWP. I am now preparing a second time as I think they are wrong. That is where we are today.
