I have inherited a home with my sister in london she has been living in it unofficially for the last 18 months alone,I live in Germany but will be returning to the uk to secure a mortgage as we have agreed to sell. I have always been very clear with my intentions and told my sister about this months ago. I was planning to return mid Sept. My sister told me yesterday that I must rent somewhere until the house is sold, it is not even on the market yet. My question is simply whether it is legal for her to not allow me access to the house that we jointly inherited.. Thanks

I would say that unless the house is legally signed over to her and its in joint names then she has no right to refuse you entry, I would advise you however to visit a legal professional and make sure. -

My sister is the executor and tells me that the house is listed as unoccupied and does not want it to be signed over in both of our names. I live in germany and really I have no idea what she is doingComment

If you don't, she can register it in her sole name and then keep it, or sell it and keep the money, as she chooses. You could contest it after the event, but this would be very difficult and would cost a great deal.
When you've done that, get a copy of the Will. It would probably be best if you then instruct a UK solicitor to deal with the matter on your behalf.Comment
