Gmac payback?

I'm new to this so please bear with me.
I had a mortgage with GMAC RFC until November 2009 and have recently read that they are being forced to pay back unfair charges etc.
I would to pursue this as I did have issues (arrears etc).Do I just call them and ask nicely or is there a better way. I would be grateful for any advice or information.

I claimed all charges back from GMAC a few years ago.

Treat like any claim for unlawful charges by sending a Letter Before Action, then filing at court if necessary. In my case they refused, but paid up when they knew I couldn't be fobbed off.
