  • Hi. Newbie question/advice

    Hi,

As I am new to the site I wondered if someone could point me in the right direction for help.

I have a few debts which I have been paying token payments for the last 3 years and am still unable to increase payments, I recently had a call from Capquest in regard to a Halifax account I had, I stated I pay direct every month to Halifax and that I have had no correspondence from Halifax to suggest the debt had been sold and that any further communications should be via letter only.

Two days later I received a letter from Halifax stating that they had passed the debt to Capquest and I should deal with them direct, now Capquest keep calling me but as I don't acknowledge who I am the simply put it on file that I wont respond and hang up, I have not received afrom them letter yet.

As I suffer with mental health issues I read that my debt should not be transferred to a debt recovery agency, I always pay my token payment on time every month and have never had any letters from anyone in relation to my debt or repayments, I tried calling Halifax but kept going round and round in circles, with them saying they can't help because the debt is now with a recovery agency.

    What do I do now?

Many thanks in advance for any help etc....

    Joseph

    Re: Hi. Newbie question/advice

Contact CAB (citizen's advice bureau) as a matter of urgency, you are right that if you suffering with mental health issues the onus is on your LENDER to help you. But of course, the stress of having to sort this mess out may make you unwell again... Start with CAB, keep us posted. And don't worry, all should end up good.
