  • Hello from new joiner!

    Hello all,

Thank you for the welcome message. I joined today because I needed advice on an issue over a court fine (paid) and bailiffs fees (not paid), which I posted under the bailiffs issue thread and hope you can please help point me in the right direction.

There are a variety of debt issues in my life, some are under control, but am finding the strength day by day to deal with each one so I can have a debt free and most importantly - harrassment free life!

One positive note - I managed to get a refund of an exorbitant clamping fee and have learned one very important lesson - put everything in writing. These people demand telephone calls in their chasing debt correspondence but then where is the documentary evidence if matters progess? So lesson learned a letter (particularly signed for) will speak a thousand more words than a phone call!

Hoping to hear from you soon.

    Many thanks,
    G.

You're right - put everything you want to say in writing and keep copies of all letters you send. When writing a letter, always ask yourself how it would sound if read out in court (just a thought!).
Stick with it with regard to the debt issues - you will get through them. Act reasonably and don't be bullied.

I thoroughly agree. Using the phone suits THEM - and NOT us.

I couldn't agree more, Nikolai and Bill. It makes bullies cringe with embarrassment when a letter gets read out loud in court. But that's nothing compared to the ear-bashing they get from the judge after it has been read out.
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.
