  • Urgent advice: HMRC DEBT COLLECTOR COMING TO THE HOUSE TOMORROW

Hi LegalBEAGLES everywhere. Please could you give me some urgent practical advice as I'm totally out of my depth here...

I have a problem with late payment of HMRC PAYE and am likely to miss my agreed payment deadlines. An HMRC Debt collector is threatening bankruptcy, pressing me to gain entry to our house to catalogue goods or to give a post dated cheque as security for the pension monies I have liquidated to pay the tax bill. I have written to HMRC and provided letters from the professionals handling my pension liquidation to attest to the fact everything is in train but that they lost my paperwork causing a delay to the agreed payment schedule. I have received no reply but their representative has informed me that they are unsympathetic and want money now (which clearly I don't have yet). The arrival date of my funds is beyond my ability to control especially with the Olympics and the holiday period slowdown but HMRC are giving me a week to perform before they instigate bankruptcy proceedings. I am not confident that I will be in funds until August end or September. THE DEBT COLLECTOR IS COMING TO THE HOUSE TOMORROW.
Please advise me as to what I can and should NOT do.
    Thank you so much,
    FearfulFriend

Hello Fearful Friend and welcome to Legal Beagles.

Could you confirm if it is HMRC themselves who are coming or some scummy bailiff firm?
Life is a journey on which we all travel, sometimes together, but never alone.
