  • Hi. Need help regarding Legal Redress charges

Hi, i was wonderng if anyone could help me. I signed a agreement back in 2010 with Legal redress to claim back my PPI from two previous loans with Lloyds TSB. I heard nothing fron Legal Redress. I tried to call them and the number i had was dead. Then in April this year (2012) i had a letter saying that Lloyds had refused to payorignally and they had taken it to the FOS. It also stated that Lloyds had now agreed to pay and i would hear in the next 28 days. Ididnt hear anything and so i rung the number and to my suprise i got through to a lady and she promised me that they would call me back in 24 hours. 24 hours went by and no call. So i called again they put me throught to accounts and they said that they had chased Lloyds yesterday and that they are awaiting on a settlement fee and that i would hear in the next two weeks direct from Lloyds but she said that they would charge me 30 % plus VAT on the final figure. Today i have revieved the final settlement from Lloyds. I do not think it is fair that i have to pay half of my money to Legal Redress when they have not sent me any communication from the last two years and they only chased Lloyds after i had rung them. I have done research on Legal Redress on the net and it looks like they went out of business last year and then re set up. Does this mean that the original contract that i signed does not exist and i do not need to pay them them the fees?
Thank you in advance for your comments. xxxxx

andika,I don't think you have a leg to stand on. You asked them for a service, and whilst the service was patchy at best, you did not discharge your services with them which means that the amount is owed as per the agreement. I would add that based on a simple £5k amount, you would be giving just under 50% of the amount, ie 44% based on 30% plus 20% of that 30%..... it's not 30% plus 20%

As much as it burns me up to say it, i think you will be contractually obliged to pay up.

If the account was in the queue with the FOS, sounds like, unless there is a fault with the agreement of course.
