  • Lifestyle Cliams

Hi New user here really in need of advice. I was contacted by lifestyle claims, i paid the 356.98 having been assured that i would not loose this as it would be incorporated into their 30% fee if i was successful. I rechecked this with the salesman, i waited for my pack which arrived with a checklist to send back. I got on with life, they called me several times requesting i send back my authorisation documents, which i did not have. They insisted i did. 2 days after this call these documents came. I signed. I was again contacted and told that my claim was worth over £2000 therefore they requested £719 because they needed to pass my claim to their solicitor. I paid.

I then changed my mind and requested the money back the next working day , they told me to send some vouchers back first. I never received any vouchers after a month of waiting, FOOLISHLY. I made contact and demanded the money back asap. I was told this would be paid in 30 days. They did pay 30 days later. I was made an offer from the bank and received an invoice for over £542. Within the invoice was a threat to settle within 14 days of my bank paying me or i would face penalties.

I have taken advice and contacted Lifestyle Claims and outlined my objections as i feel they mis led me. Also i feel that i had been left financially vulnerable due to them taking 60 days to repay the £719. I have paid interest for 2 months on this and need to transfer my credit card to reduce the costs i paid. for this i paid a fee.

I have been told that the £356 is not part of their 30% fee and this had been laid down in their terms and conditions. So effectively in return for their work they would be taking over 50% of my compensation. I would never have agreed to this.

But appearently it is within their written terms and conditions. I have offerred them £145 in lieu of what i have already paid. I have no objection to the 30%.

They have now told me to pay the full invoice to avoid debt proceedings.

    All advice is welcome.

      Re: Lifestyle Cliams

Can you post up the terms and condition please.

How many days after you they phoned you did they charge your card.

How many days after you paid did you try to cancel?

Did you send back the pack within 14 days.

You can report this matter both to trading standards and ministry of justice.

        Re: Lifestyle Cliams

They took the money from my card during the phone call in November, it went out same day. The pack came ten days later, although i did not check it straight away (was stressed with work) I did not try to cancel at this point. I did send of the checklist, Lifestyle claim called several times to ask me to send back my authority form, I told them i did not have one. It was not until January when this form arrived. I posted this off. This is when they requested the extra £719. At the time of this call i felt pressured as i had already paid £356 and felt that unless i paid i would lose my "down payment"

I never at any point read anywhere that this £356 would not be returned in a successful claim. I listened to what the salesperson was telling me. I have since found a copy of Terms and Conditions i do not believe they came as part of the package. These are 6 pages long. under what it will cost it says

our administration fee is £299.99 +vat which =£356.98 you will also need to provide us with a £1 or a £10 cheque made payable to your lender (i was not asked for this) to request relevant documents for each claim. Our fees are paid as a percentage or the claim. If it is successfull. This means we only get paid if you out of the compensation recovered. If we claim on your behalf, we take %30 (plus vat) of the compensation amount.

During the initial and subsequent phone calls i was told that the upfront money was in lieu of a successful claim as the lender would pay the money back to my credit card, and not to Lifestyle claims, Oddly enough this seemed fair enough as if i decided to keep the money they would have to take steps for their payments..... This was my thinking.....very naive. They saw me coming.

I did research following the £719 payment and read your information and more. I then cancelled this. They were unhappy as they siad this would mean less money for them and me. I said i didn't care. At this point i felt i had lost the £356.98 anyway.

I sent them a letter and had a reply that was threatening me with Debt proceedings and a bad credit rating. I wish i had seen this site first. Also the contacted me through text. this was unsolicited, however i replied tell me more.

I can send you my letter and there response but would not like it to be visible. What can i do, i have no argument with the 30% charge only the extra £356 which as stated was not in my opinion part of the agreement. I believe i only owe them £185

Hi thanks for the link, but i can't access it. Still finding my way round and hopefully despite my naiveness on the Lifestyle claims subject, i would hopefully be able to advice members in other areas of expertise. x
