    Hi Bambi,

If it's the wrong forum someone from site admin will move it. I didn't see the comment, but as far as a spellchecker goes, I'm not aware of one on here. :beagle:

A particularly demanding English teacher worked for me, whereby anyone getting less than 19 out to 20 in a daily test of that week's 100 spellings was retested the next day as a last chance before further sanctions.

Lists included words like accommodation, separate etc... which are commonly incorrectly spelt. Obviously it was in the days before a heightened awareness of dyslexia.

In answer to your first question - it is a reference to poker where at the end you place all your cards face up on the table. It means to declare or show your hand - that is what you are using to win the game.

Has just checked previous threads just to see what exactly was it that I meant, but now I'm totally confused and lost, also if I'm honest I'm not sure what I meant or even if I meant to say it at all :der:

sorry i didnt explain what i wanted very clearly.
but i have got a good excuse i did post at 2.47 am

i meant there are a lot of things i dont understand on this site eg the spell check - [ abc at right hand corner of message box ] it says if i want to down load spell check click ok if i down load it can i use it when i write in message box?
                Dear Labman
i am afraid it is too late for me, i had a rubbish education. Father in the forces and moved house a lot sometimes we would stay at one school for 6 weeks while we waited for a house on the base to come available i was unable to adapt quickly enough and i think the teachers were very dfferant then not like now as charitynjw quoted Dame Thora Hird if you didnt get it first time you were just left and sent to the back of the class room
i therefore rely heavily on spell checks
All cards down, i have seen this on bottom left hand corner of a post eg cards down [ 9th april 2012 ] i was wondering what it meant is it what basa 48 has said it is ?
i am such an idiot when it comes to computers so would like to learn more about how to work the things i am going to use the most

                thanks for your help

Re: not sure if this is the right forum for this question

                  Hi Bambi.

"Cards Down" is the Username of a member, who has posted in this thread, now. You'll have seen their name at the bottom of posts, where they have clicked the 'Thanks' button on various useful or interesting posts.

Don't worry too much about speling and gramer in here. As long as you can get your point across, that's fine. We have very knowledgeable members for whom spelling and grammar are not their strong points - dyslexia lures, KO ?

.....and I very often post after a wee drinkie or two - and regret it the next day !!!
