  • Defaults on Credit Reports

    Firstly Hi all,

I am currently trying to apply for a mortgage I earn above average salary and have 20% deposit however have defaults on my credit report

I have 3 in total 2 with Egg one with Capital One - I have paid them and they now show as settled, however i want to try and get them removed

Egg defaults are from 2006 so are due to dissapear by Sept this year but Captial One is 08 ideally i want them all gone within the next few months

I have been told if i write and appeal for a good will gesture the banks might be willing to remove the defaults alternatively ask for them to provide information/documentation regarding the default notification and cross my fingers they dont have any so have to lift the default.

I feel the defaults are unjust as they occured while my finances were with a debt consolidation company (Harrington Brooks) who in prinicpal agree a repayment plan with the creditors.

If any of you could offer me any advice i would be most greatful

    Thanks in advance

      Re: Defaults on Credit Reports

      Hi Labman
No unfortunately not as i have only checked my credit report upon the application of a Mortgage since i ran into problems in my teens with the credit / store cards which lead to the defaults i havent applied for or used any credit since - with the issue (as i was led to believe) in the hands of consolidation i rather foolishly left them to it.
      Thanks

I understand compleatly your situation. There is advice on how to go about asking for default removel on the grounds of a good will gesture and templates on the web. I don't think it would hurt to send them a letter since you have settled it. I've also seen that asking to re-age the debt if not removed is also a good route. Good luck bro.
