Hope someone can advise me.
I am currently in dispute with conveyancers about their final charge after an aborted purchase. I had paid ‘on account’ when asked, twice in fact, and assumed this was meeting their ongoing charges. Their final charges are £ 600 less the £200 paid on account. My questions are;
Can they start a legal action against me although this matter is currently in dispute and also as monies have been paid on account?
If I were to offer a cheque for a fair and reasonable amount stipulating that this is in full settlement of the account and this was cashed, can I take it that they have accepted that it is in full settlement and that is the end of the matter?
Many thanks
