  • Wheel clamped, seven hundred pounds poorer!

Hello everyone, you will see from the title that I have been 'pressured' into paying a rather large amount of cash to get my car released from a wheel clamp. Admittedly I was parked illegally and any defence of that is irrelevant here. what is relevant is:the tactics and resolve of the clamper to lighten me of the said sum. What, if any, is the best way to get my money back?

Any suggestions and advice is most welcome.

    kind regards, Mich Bichard.

Any details as to the tactics they used?

If you paid by credit card there's the chargeback route.

There's also this site: www.pepipoo.com Have a look at their parking forums for a letter similar to your circumstances which you can adapt. Don't go down the route of paying for a foolproof template letter - such a thing does not exist.

I think the consensus is that it's best to find the landowner and cite both them and the clamping company as defendants acting against exhorbitant fees.

If none of that owrks there's a common law route you could try, but that would be a last resort.

tactics...good guy, bad guy, pay up or lose your car or see what you can gather cash wise. Eventually demanding all they ask and we'll be round in ten minutes to tow your car away unless you have the cash.
