  • Hi All

I am currently in the process of reclaiming PPI from Welcome!! I had been contacted by a claims firm and a solicitor's firm sent me out paperwork, but on reading it I decided not to sign up and do the claim myself.

I then found out that claims are now being handled by the FSCS - I am waiting for Welcome to get back to me.

Today I had a phone call from the solicitors asking me to sign and return their paperwork. I said to the solicitor that now all claims were being handled by FSCS and she said "Oh just ignore that, it's not true. If you let us handle your claim you will get your compensation in cash and not it taken off your account balance". I declined to sign up at that time, but I am wondering if this is true or not.

I am frightened that they may be preying on vulnerable people, getting them to sign up and then they have no way of paying their fees.

Thank you for any help that you can give.

I could really do with the cash but I am totally confused now.

The FSCS are dealing with all post 2005 claims and they DO NOT PAY CMC's fees if you claim through them. The money does appear to be coming off the account balance of any win.
