  • Negotiating default removal

    Hi All

Im new here so hope Im posting in the right place apologies if not.

Im looking for advice on default removal.

I had a business bank account with HSBC and ran up an infomal overdraft of around £1k to which they added about £500 in charges over a year or so.

Im self employed so as the recession began to hit harder work dried up and I wasnt getting cash into the account. In December HSBC called in the overdarft and asked me to pay by mid Jan. I contacted them to say I couldent but would do what I could, and managed o bring it down to just under £900 by mid Feb.

Last week I got a letter from Metropolitan collections who I understand is their in house DCA asking for payment.I contacted them and they offered me a deal to pay in 3 monthly installments, with a 20% overall reduction on the amount.

I paid the first installment ther and then and was told theyd put something in writing about the agreement, but Ive yet to receive that.

Its since been pointed out to me that theyve probably registered a default against me and I was wondering if I should contact them to ask that this be removed as part of the deal once they receive the final installment. Im wondering what my strongest arguments for this should be as I assume theyre not just going to agree. Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks
    Dikkam
