  • Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992

    Hi Everyone!

First time I have been on any kind or forum. The reason I am on this one is because I am obliged to be find out some specific information regarding "Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992"...and the erecting of some scaffold in order to carry out a loft conversion. My neighbours appears to be asking for unreasonable sums of money, as well as telling me what months I am allowed to erect the scaffold and penalties applied for length of time the scaffold remains erected. I have tried doing very thing in a neighbourly way, but have come up against a wall of antagonism and unreasonableness. Is there anybody out there who has had a similar experience and had to go through the Neighbouring Land Act 1992.

    Regards
    John

Re: Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992

Why are your neighbours reluctant for you to carry out this work?

Access to Neighbouring Land Act 1992 is really to allow access to a neighbouring property to enable essential preservation works to be carried out.

To my knowledge the court will not grant the access order if the works are likely to cause interference or disturbance, so I am unsure how necessary they will deem a loft conversation.

I would think your best bet would be to telephone a local surveyor and get some professional advice.

Let us know how you get on xx
