  • statute barred and the csa

    Hello everyone,

If the csa are selling their outstanding debts on to collection agencies ,then how do they get around the statute barred law .
I have recently started to be severely harrassed by a supposed firm of Solicitors who say that they are acting on the behalf of the csa .
Their very first letter to myself and my new wife was a threat to sell our home if they did not recieve 10k ,the following letter had increased the sum to 14k and again the continued threat of selling our home .
As this supposed debt is over 6 years old can i be aggressively be pursued in this manner.
    please advise .

Fire off a Prove It letter to the solicitors and see what comes back.
There's one here: ~~~ Consumer Credit Agreements - A Guide ~~~~ inc. Letters - Legal Beagles

As far as I know debts of this nature are NOT covered by limitations at all, but you MUST ensure the correct party is receiving payments.
