  • Car Park Incident

    Hi everyone
I would appreciate some advice if possible on an incident 2 months ago in a local car park. I was reversing into a spot very slowly as I do not have parking sensor on my car. I bumped a car that was directly behind me. I genuinely hardly touched the car and the driver was actually walking towards me at the time. I pulled forward so we could both look. He looked and said no problem and just laughed it off. I did not report it to my insurance company as I genuinely believed that was the end of it. Now, I have had a letter from this guy's insurance company stating I wrecked his power steering and a host of other things. I know this is not the case. I was actually really barely moving. He even laughed it off as mentioned. I haven't replied yet as I believe I should contact my insurance company and let them know what has happened. They will then hopefully get in touch with his insurance providers and give my side of the story. However, am I right in believing he should provide a mechanic's report linking this incident into the host of things he is claiming for? As far as I am aware, he has no mechanical report whatsoever and I know this is a scam, but I need to push back legally.
    Thank You - Hughie

Yep, contact your insurers and let them deal with it.
