  • Mentaly handicapt brother

Good afternoon, hopefully someone will see this. My brother had been hidden away from me for eight years by a family who are now in control of him.
I found out by luck from one of the families relatives that they had put him in a home where he is today.
I am now in the process of batteling with the social services to take him out of the home and live with me and my wife.
when my mother died my father decided for my brother to live with this family who are not related and at the time I did not have a spare room to take him.
When the family who looked after him found out my mother left the house to me and my brother I never saw him after this and my father died.
I have grave concerns about how this family are managing my brother's finances.
Is there anybody here that can help me help me and my brother as we are the only two living, no brother's or sister's or any other living relatives. Just me and him. I am 65yrs old and my brother is 60. I would like to spend what time I have left with my brother at my home. Can anyone please help. The lady who controls his finances leaves £40.00 per fortnight at the home. I have asked the social services what happens to the rest of his benefits and was told it was nothing to do with me.
my brother as far as I am aware get full benefit. All i want is to make sure he is not being screwed by this family.
    how can I do this?
I have no money for a solicitor. The family in control do not have power of attorney nor are they his legal appointee.
    please advise.
