  • PCN Total Parking - Court costs @ 12000, unclear on who has to pay

Long story short after previously winning another parking dispute I tried again. This took 2-3 years to end up in court and the date shifted again. I couldnbt make the court date so emailed the court saying so and expected to loose and pay.

3 days after TPS post saying I lost etc and please pay £277 to avoid a CCJ. I paid instantly, i.e. within 3 days of the court date.

On Friday the 26 i received 3 letters from the court.

Saying I think that TPS are due to pay me, the defendant. There are wasted time costs of £12000 and both parties are also required to pay. The ammonts dont seem to add up and the also seem exorbitant.

Advice would be appreciated. Happy to just pay to be if we have to rather than fight as we're too busy to continue with this admin.

You have been ordered to pay the costs of your application against the Claimant's solicitors for wasted costs. As to the amount, the way that it is written ("£1,2000") contains a clear typo: either the comma is in the wrong place or an extra 0 has been added. You could ask the Court to clarify.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read the Judiciary's handbook for litigants in person: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf

The court has advised that this was a clerical error.

I trust that the correct figure is the lower one.
