  • Duped/robbed by builder

Mum passed away and left me some money. I employed a builder to do sone work. They gave a full quote, took my money, did some work, said that they had underquoted me and walked way.
I am left with a pointless construction and he is thousands and thousands of pound better off. He closed the busibess and reopened in another name.
He has put one business name on the quote, different to that on the gov website and is also giving different names in to suppers that ate different to either of the others.
they are liars, bullys, threateners and conmen.
The one that introduced me to the builder was the one that now works with the builder and the one that threatened me.
They have stopped the threats and calls because I told them that I was going to see a solicitor. They are horrible.

Appears to be a case of Fraud, have a word with the local constabulary, sometimes they may take action, so worth a try. Suing him will involve more debt to you without the prospect of recovery unless he owns the property, then it's worth a chance.

You should also contact your council Trading Standards Department.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.

Litigants in Person should download and read this: https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/..._in_Person.pdf
