  • When the other side suggests a solicitor for you

I have a land lease for moorings with canal & river trust & when it was due for renewal they recommended a solicitor to act for me. I didn't follow it up as it seemed odd to have them recommend a solicitor (they were quite pushy & CRT appears to be run like an old boys club). Few weeks later CRT sent me the draft lease at which point I received an email from the recommended solicitor saying I hear you have been sent your draft lease, please forward it to me if you would like me to act for you. Is this normal or even allowed? I didn't get them to act for me as I felt like I was being bullied into taking that particular solicitor & still need one as the lease has drastically changed.

    Hi Canalworld

    Welcome to LB

Sounds odd, in some ways a 'conflict of interest'.

    Although you have - https://www.sra.org.uk/solicitors/st...ct-solicitors/

You've got 'Just Beagles' on the right of the screen (up to you if you use).

    This is a specialist area.
