  • Buying back CPO land

Hi - a business sold land to the council via a CPO. The intended use after the CPO to build a by-pass is now not necessary. The council have put the land up for sale.
During this time, the original landowner has been renting back the land and continued to run the same business.
I've read about the Crichel Down rules, but I don't feel it's fair that the council have profitted from rent off the original landowner, forced to sell via a CPO.

Even though the previous owner received money for the land that was sold?

Make your offer to the Council.
Lawyer (solicitor) - retired from practice, now supervising solicitor in a university law clinic. I do not advise by private message.
