Are you satisfied that the debt is owed?

No as my father helped me with my debts during the pandemic as I lost my job so reason I sent a prove it letter is my father made payment on my behalf due to my situation so what do I do next is my question

If your dad has paid the Credit Union back, do the statements show any outstanding money owed to the Credit Union?

That was first letter I sent them and they replied with the cca and statements for the account which I didn’t request in the letter so is there another letter I could use or do I continue to send this one ?

Your are saying it has been paid. You need to provide evidence, ask your father to send his bank a SAR,
make sure you get Proof of Postage.

This is where it get complicated as my father passed away in January this year so won’t get sar on his account but I do have copy’s of his statements when he made the payment as I wanted to keep confirmation incase this situation arose which it has so do I have any say on this if my father has passed away ?

                            Sorry for your loss.
Write a covering letter (keep a copy), explain that payment against the debt were made by your late father, attach copies of the statements, don't send originals. Make sure you get Proof of Postage.

Update the thread with their response.

Are you an Executor for your father's Will?

If you have the statements do they state the payment was made to the credit union?

Check all subsequent statement entries to make sure the credit union didn't return the payment to your father.

If they didn't then what might have happened is that the credit union didn't correctly identify what account the money was for so have stuck the money on some suspense account and not used it to clear your account balance.

As Executor you are legally entitled to ask them what they have done with the payment from your father. Ask this direct to the credit union, don't bother asking C&L to find out.
