Settlement of Equitable Charge registered against a property

Hello Beagles,
There is an equitable charge from 2008 registered against my property which I am in the process of selling. The debt, through several assignments is now in the hands of a debt collection agency who are refusing to inform my solicitor of the outstanding balance so that the debt can be settled, are they within their rights to do this?

Do you know if the debt collector actually owns the debt or are they only acting for the current debt owner?

It's hard to think of any reason why they would do this other than administrative inefficiency. They would surely want to get their hands on actual money as soon as possible? Maybe after all these years the offer to pay has caught them on the hop and, after several assignments, they can't find the paperwork?

Can you please post the complete wording of the entry/ies on your Land Registry title relating to this equitable charge.

Do you own the property alone or jointly with others?
