  • Nolans/Cabot Letter received today.

    Hey,
I got a letter in the mail today from Nolans Solisitors.
    It states
"as you will be aware our client has obtained a court decree against you" (Cabot)

I'm not aware of this? How would I have been made aware? There is nothing on my credit file and I also just did a check to see if there has been anything on Registry Trust?

I've been told I have 7 days to reply.

    This debt is for: £1,473
    Start Date: 27th March 2018.
    Default Date: 30 August 2018.

I've not replied to any communication from cabot them in the past 5 years.

    What should I do?
    Thank you for anyones help!!

    Hi Hangxietyx

    Welcome to LB

I take it that you are in Scotland.

You need to establish if they have a Decree, debts in Scotland are Statute Barred after 5 years, providing there is no Decree. So would have been Statute Barred in August 2023. You've done the checks that you can, they show nothing.

I would send them a Statute Barred letter, at least that way the debt will be Statute Barred or they will send you details of the Decree.

Should be a template on here, make sure you get Proof of Postage -
