Student. With a adhd. Autism and dyslexia and mental health. Because part of the reason my adjustments at placement were refused was because i didn’t have a blue badge or OH report. This was in respect of accessible parking and flexibility in shifts. But more broadly an OH would be necessary or sensible to guide what would be later for. A disability statement for the staff at university to implement reasonable adjustments from.

It's your reponibility to obtain the professional opinions and recommendations you need to support your request to make adjustments. What evidence have you submitted from your Consultant and from your GP?All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. I am not a lawyer and do not hold any legal qualifications.

Ask your GP for a letter of support and apply to your local council for a blue badge

When you say you have diagnoses do these expressly state that in the opinion of a medical or legal professional your condition amounts to a Disability under the Equality Act?
Have you been assessed by your local council for a Blue Badge? If not, apply for one.
You don't say who has made the diagnoses and assessment of needs but it if is from a specialist medical Consultant get them to provide recommendations about accessible car parking.
Does the assessment of needs say you need special car parking arrangements at university? If so why won't the university accept it as evidence of provision they need to make?
Otherwise the university isn't under any obligation to pay for you to consult OH. Refer yourself and get OH recommendation. What evidence do you have that it is discriminatory to ask you to provide evidence of your disability and any reasonable adjustments? Are you able to show that the university has paid for an OH referral for other students with a disability, for example?Last edited by PallasAthena; 14th December 2023, 14:42:PM.All opinions expressed are based on my personal experience. Conditions are diagnosed by respective professional. They do expressly say my condition would meet the definition of disability. Needs assessment is for the purpose of determining needs which enable me to access DSA funding for things like support worker and equipment, I am a student nurse whilst on university premises I have a access parking badge, however whilst on placement at the hospital trust the policy stated disability parking is only available for persons with blue badge or OH recommendations. This would amount to a PCP. And indirect discrimination I will argue, would you agree? But further to that the placement provider asked my university to suspend my placement or find an alternative which is consistent with my needs and this point I would argue is victimisations. I would like to ask your views on this please. My assssor then failed me on pmacement and terminated it which meant I was unable to proceed to yeae 2. The reasons for the fail where again due to attendance, meeting proficiencies and professional values, firstly my attendance was low, but this was directly result of the placements failure to make adjustments and afford me parking and my absence would be as a consequence of my disability .‘I would appreciate your thoughts at this juncture before I proceed to tell you what followed but in short, my placement then raises concerns to my university about my suitability as a future nurse which were considered by my faculty under the fitness to practice process, these concerns were unjustified and contrary to the earlier email from the placement manager who said they would support an appeal given that I wasn’t given a fair opportunity as a development plan was not put in place. Concerns were not raised earlier or communicated to my university and support measures were not put in place.
