  • Mental Health and social injustice issues created by the legal system

Very interesting article on mental health by LB's team. What is never addressed is the fact that we no longer have a legal aid system that supports vulnerable or people with the inability to defend themselves in court due to possibly educational issues or other aspects that impedes them making a response as a litigant. This is a shocking legal system in the UK that clearly does not take into account any litigants human rights to obtain a fair hearing and trial. To be faced with the legal process and highly trained solicitors leads to most litigants failing or walking away from a court action which is not acceptable in a fair and equitable society. There clearly needs to be better links to the ECHR (rules the UK created) and for those who haven’t had justice in the courts to be supported at the ECHR with claims against the UK government and the UK courts for failing to consider their human rights in this respect. The UK legal system it seems still follows a draconian 16C mindset that still treats people as uneducated peasants who should have no recourse to the law and any defence if they are unintelligent or poor? (Peasants Revolt, 1381, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peasants%27_Revolt).
