Hi All,
I hope I am posting in the correct place...apologies if not!
I have received a letter from the County Court Business Center (CCBS) in Northampton for failing to pay a parking charge issued by UK PARKING CONTROL LIMITED on 08/12/2018.
Information requested as per the note:
Received a claim? Yes
Issue Date: 18th Feb 2023
Have you Acknowledged the Claim?: Yes
Amount Claimed : £190
Court Fee: £35
Legal Representatives costs: £50
Total Amount: £275
Claimants Name: UK PARKING CONTROL LIMITED
Solicitors Firm: DCM LEGAL LTD
Original Debt: £150
Particulars of Claim: The defendant(D) is indebted to the claimant (C) for a Parking Charge issues to vehicle xxxxxxx at Merry Hill shopping center. The vehicle was parked in breach of the T&Cs on the signs (the contract) thus incurring the PCNs. The driver agreed to pay within 28 days (the driver don't remember agreeing to anything?) etc etc....
Is the debt Statute Barred (have you had any contact with the creditor or claimant over the last 6 years?): None
List any letters you have sent (eg: CCA/ CPR ): None
Any Other Information or Background Details: The driver parked in carpark, did not park in dedicated parking bay, but instead in an area free of obstruction to any other vehicles. Unable to read the T&Cs at the time due to lack of illumination of sign. Also cannot refer back to sign as images provided by UKPC are blurry
Images obtained from UKPC web portal (attached)

I noticed that the image of the sign containing the 'contract' is not clear on the photograph at all, also there is no lighting illuminating the sign making it hard to read also.
Parking is free at this particular car park for shoppers 'If you are visiting Merry Hill, you can park for free at any of the car parks below. Merry Hill has a total of seven car parks and 9,209 free parking spaces across the centre. Passenger lifts give easy access from any of the multi-storey car parks directly to the centre. ' taken from shopping areas website.
What are the drivers next steps after submitting a AOS for defending this?
Thanks for all your help in advance!
