  • Capquest chasing a SLC debt from 1996

    Hi Guys,

I'm being harassed by CapQuest with reference to a Student Loan taken out in 1994. I was young and didn't realise the consequence's at the time. So I was issued a CCJ in 1996. Loan amount was £1950 CCJ was £2018.16. They are telling me that I still owe £801.61. I made the mistake of falling for one of their phishing emails as I thought I'd paid it off 25 years ago. I understand that the 6 year statute removed it from my credit file but the debt is for life due to the CCJ. I asked them for evidence of the debt in August 2022 they eventually emailed me in December 2022 saying i could access this on their website portal. When I tried to login it said i had to ring them. I am now receiving texts messages telling me i must ring them urgently and have received a letter telling me as i have not provided any evidence of payments their collection department will be in touch. I have emailed them twice since the letter asking for the evidence again but no reply. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Borodottie

When did you last make a payment?

I also take it you haven't acknowledged the debt in writing?
