  • Neighbours outdoor speaker

We just noticed our next door neighbour installed a pair of outdoor speaker, they are still doing some building work, so not in use yet. But from our experience they will have many loud parties after their building work is done. Is there any regulation about installing outdoor speakers? What is our position if our life got impacted by their speaker even during the day? And we have a one year old daughter, we would love spending time in the garden when she can walk, if they turn the music too loud we won’t be able to do so. Any suggestion or help would be much appreciated. Thank you

The moment there is noise nuisance, complain to the council.

As you say, from our experience they will have many loud parties after their building work is done, have you previously complained about the loud parties and how often are they?

Neighbor disputes can become upsetting and it is best if you can try and solve any problem before it gets to any official complaints. If a neighbor has a loud party on occasion, you can try having a quiet word with them to explain your own position. You may find that they were not aware that they have been disturbing anyone. Avoid arguments as many things can be solved by reasoning. ONLY if you have continual problems, then speak with the Council office and they may have a word with them to try and solve the problem
