Hi, I'm new here, please go easy on me.

can anyone please help me to write a letter of complaint to solicitors company for negligence? I will have to also write to the Ombudsman's to put in claim. Thank you

The Ombudsman will do nothing until the formal complaint has been sent to the solicitors.

As you may have seen the way to do this, I would suggest that the have a letter heading of FORMAL COMPLAINT and list the details, but then make sure you record the delivery, then wait for the reply which must be given within the stated time.

The letter/email of complaint needs to be sent to the complaints partner and be in accordance with the firm's complaints procedure for which there should be a link on their website to this. The law firm has up to 8 weeks to respond to your complaint. It is only once you have exhausted this process and not received a satisfactory resolution that you can escalate your complaint.

Esclation of your complaint maybe to one of two organisations depending on the nature of the negligence.

If you are not happy with your solicitor’s work, service or the fees you were charged and want to put these right, you should contact the Legal Ombudsman to consider the complaint, www.legalombudsman.org.uk or telephone 0300 555 0333.

If your complaint is about a solicitor possibly being dishonest or you have concerns about their behaviour or that of the firm, then this type of issue should be taken up with the Solicitors Regulation Authority www.sra.org.uk/problem or telephone 0370 606 2555.
