  • CCJ and Default Expiry

Can anyone please tell me if, when a CCJ and/or a default reaches the 6 year mark, does it not only clear your credit record but are you still likely to be approached to repay the amount? I had a CCJ against me when it was issued to a previous address 6 months after I left. I was advised I had no chance of having it removed as the debt was bona fide. In any event I never heard anything else about it but the CCJ is due to expire this August, am I still liable for the debt thereafter? Does the same apply to defaults?

Hope that made sense. Many thanks.

yes = BUT they would need a very good excuse to try and enforce after such time. which in some cases they would not get. defaults once off that is it no further records on CRA file.

        Thank you.

I honestly don’t remember where I got the information saying it wouldn’t be set aside just because of the wrong address but I’ve suffered it now for almost the 6 years and with the end in sight I just wanted to be sure it would be over.

after 6 years a company would need a very good excuse as to why not actioned within that period. any action would be detrimental to them by a judge
