I hired a van for two days.
When I returned it the rental worker checked the vehicle and told me that he was happy with the vehicle and that the £200 held on my card would be refunded back to me.
However the next day (today), they sent me an invoice for the rental with an added refuelling charge of just over £132.
If that was not bad enough, the van wasn't even full to the top when I collected it. I was a bit unsure as I know some vehicles fuel needles don't go all the way up. So I took a photo of it when I collected it with the mileage showing next to it.
When I returned it I did the same - took a photo of the fuel gauge and the mileage. I didn't mention this to the rental clerk but like I say, he told me he was happy with the vehicle.
I also have the receipt for the refuelling which was done a few miles away about 1 hour prior to dropping the van off.
I have tried calling the rental company multiple times but they are not answering the phone a the branch or in their main office.
Would this be something I can do a chargeback on? I paid using AMEX. I'm very disappointed in this company as it's one of the larger better-known ones and I purposely avoided another two companies which I know have a terrible reputation.
