  • Family law question

    Looking for advice, my ex has the children 12/14 days a month and I have always been supportive of having a open door so if my children want to see their dad especially my son they can. My daughter does not like staying at her dads and can get quite upset even 2 years on. Having not had a relationship with my dad I have always encouraged her to go however she regularly asks me about at what age does she no longer have to visit. The issue I’m experiencing is my ex has a new partner and practically the entire weekend my daughter is at her Dads she is left alone with his new partner and her daughter including overnight without her brother and father, effectively I am sharing custody with his girlfriend as she is not with her dad.

    My questions are;

    at what age do children decide whether to visit a parent?

    what does the law say about my partner having my daughter and her not even staying with him overnight? He is in a different house. I have no issue with my daughter having contact with his girlfriend I just am finding it upsetting I’m not having my daughter so she is with her dad but in reality she’s with someone else non relative overnight ?

    just finding it all very stressful, I’ve tried to talk to ex about it but it always turns into a argument as he never listens to me. I would be interested in what the law says about it.

    thank you
