Hi
Do I have to pay the bailiff fees if they had been going to and writing to the wrong address and I have cleared the debt directly with the original creditor?
I was late paying my business rates in August - that was cleared I didn’t realise that there was a court charge of £113. They passed this to Bristow and Sutor who have been sending bailiffs and letter to the wrong address.
The landlord went into the unused unit and discovered letter, asked them if it was mine as there was no business name on them either.
I called the council told them I didn’t know there was a court charge and cleared it with them immediately.
They told Bristow and Sutor I have cleared the debt, now Bristow and sutor are saying I owe their fees - do I - if they have been attending the wrong address?
