  • LPA advice?

My wife's Brother is suffering from Parkinson's and he has needed to go into a Nursing Home.
He is very mentally aware but his speech is not very good and he is also unable to write or sign anything.
Problem being he has not taken out an LPA and is now unable to sign one, what can we advice him to do to get around this problem?

    Thanks for any advice

You need to speak to a solicitor who can get you around that hurdle, no doubt some medical evidence will be needed. Look for one that will do it for a fixed fee, the cost should be nominal.

You could try 'Just Beagle' bottom right hand corner (totally up to you).

If your wife's brother has mental capacity, which is the important aspect to making an LPA, then this can be done online without the need for a solicitor and will only cost the £82 per LPA to register the document.

The online process can be completed for a "doner" i.e. your wife's brother who cannot sign the document. When you complete his details there is a box to tick if a donor is unable to sign or make a mark on the LPA and an extra sheet will be added to the LPA so someone can sign on the donor's behalf.

You can find some information here about making and LPA online for which there are two a)health and welfare b) property and financial affairs
