  • HELP - Is my car insurance info correct?!?!?!?!!

Hello. I was recently involved in a minor car accident where the third party verbally agreed to take liability, but has not yet done so, and when i called them after the accident they said we "could let the insurers handle it", which doesnt fill me with confidence that he's going to take liability. No one was hurt.
When I applied for my car insurance, I ticked my occupation as unemployed due to disability. I don't work due to fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression and ptsd. As these conditions do not seem to be notifiable from what I have read as they don't impact my driving, I have never informed dvla or my insurers. Am I right in thinking that I don’t have to disclose this information ? No further details were requested at the time when i got the insurance.
I should also point out that I am on medication, but none of it explicitly states that I am unable to drive when taking it.
My GP has never told me not to drive, but at the same time, i didnt think to ask, i didnt realise my conditions/meds might be notifiable.

Do car insurers ask disabled customers about meds/conditions after a crash?

I'm so worried i've done something wrong that is going to void my policy and possibly cause a stream of other problems.
Thank you in advance for your help.

My understanding is that as long as you are considered for to drive and your licence would not be taken away then you are O.K. If it's not noticeable that's it. However, so check the wording on your insurance.
I don't think you need toworry.

You only need to advise the DVLA ab out conditions which affect your ability to drive (and it is self assessment for the conditions you list)
The list (does not include fibromyalgia) can be seen here https://www.gov.uk/health-conditions...ndition-a-to-z

Shouldn't affect your insurance unless they asked a specific question and you gave a false answer

If you have been involved in an incident involving a third party you should notify your insurer ASAP even if at that time you tell them you are not making a claim but just advising them of the incident.
Too often third parties say "let's sort it ourselves without involving insurance" and then either don't or worse file a claim themselves against the innocent party.
If that happens your insurers may not be too happy with you!

thanks for your reply. i contacted my insurance company straight away after the accident, they've been really nice but i was worried they would start asking about why im disabled/my meds and then judge me, or not cover me, for not telling them - even although my mental health and fibro dont affect my driving. they didnt ask me any specific health questions when applying apart from any notifiable illnesses - some sites say anxiety IS notifiable and others say its not, all so confusing!

Anxiety is a condition nearly everyone experiences as a reaction to stress.
It is only notifiable if it affects your ability to drive safely, which is stated on the a-z link.

If you think your ability to drive is unaffected, and your GP hasn't raised the matter, then you should have no problem with your insurers or the DVLA.

Dare I say "try and relax and not stress over what is a minor incident"?
