What you received, 'Notice of Action', you've explained what it says 'from lowells to say that overdales are now instructed to deal with debt.' So they have passed the case to their lawyers.

A Letter Before Action will be several pages and mention potential court action if you don't act.

its from overdales to say that they are now instructed to act. Yes its one page, asks him to contact them by various methods to pay/set up payment plan.

However, it does finish by saying - if you fail to make payment or contact us to resolve, we are instructed by our client to request that a court issue a CCJ against you and then goes on to detail what happens if legal proceedings are issued and still no payment, ie., the debt owed would increase as follows etc. As I previoulsy said it gives no deadline for a response

Im a little confused now, due to the mention of court action do you think this might be is a LBA? Sorry to be dumb, I really dont want to get this wrong..

just a preliminary one page template letter, hoping you cave in, plenty of time later in proceedings to come to an agreement? but do not panic for now so many hurdles they have to pass .
you have been told i believe letter before action is 5-6 pages of this that other then not necessary a court action immediately
