  • DCBL unpaid parking charge

On the 19 November 2021 I received a letter from DCBL asking for a payment of £170 for parking longer than the maximum period in a car park in August 2021.
the letter was dated 16 November 2021. This is the first letter I have received, as in the letter they state they have sent previous letters to an old address.
They also write that they have used a tracing service to find me at my current address. The address that they have used is incorrect, as they have only used the name of the village, they have also spelt my surname incorrect.
I called them today to explain that I was on site whilst my car was in the car park and that I did not realise there was a limit on parking. I was uploading my dissertation at the time, but was also paying for food and coffee during that period.
My question is should I pay the fine?
It states in the letter it is not subject to bailiff or High Court action.
I have offered to pay the fine of £50, but they have declined this.
What should I do ? Requst to see all correspondence previously sent?
thanks for reading, advice would be welcome.
