  • Lowell CCJ Advise

    Hi,

I have just received a call from a private number (something I don't usually answer) and was met with someone stating they were from a county court. They were calling to advise me that Lowell had arranged for a bailiff order for a CCJ on the 18th of October and they were advising that I should make payment or contact Lowell.

When I asked about the CCJ as I'd no paperwork regarding any CCJ at all, they said that it was a CCJ issued in 2018 by Lowell. BT had sold this to them and the debt itself for BT for approx £300 at the time in 2016.

Now this was quite some time ago and I don't remember being with BT at this time, what's more, I am currently with BT now with the same name - so I question that if I owe anything, why to be allowed an account with them for the past 1.5 years.

I also asked them where the paperwork is as I've not had anything relating to this and found that it relates to an address that I moved out of 3 years ago and paperwork has been going there - includeing the recent bailiff letters.

I have not admitted to the debt - I question this alone and yes, I can now see that there is a CCJ from 20218 on my credit file but then I've only just started using this as of today. I guess now I am questioning why after 3 years, I am being told that bailiffs can come out - is this true?

I have not provided my new address either.

I also have a daughter who is autistic, something like this would really upset her but I'm also conscious that if I call the number I was provided, that I would be admitting liability and would have to provide my new address.

    Any advice please?

    Hi SPANNER

Send / email Lowell's and the bailiff firm the following template, explain that you have a daughter that is autistic and as such you are a 'vulnerable persons'.

    https://www.nationaldebtline.org/sam...vulnerable-ew/

If they fail to adhere to the letter, lodge complaints against them.

    https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/de...re-vulnerable/

Once you are in control of the situation, you can decide to deal with the CCJ as it was sent to the wrong address.

You can send BT and Lowell's a SAR, they have 30 days to provide all the data on the account, make sure you get Proof of Postage.
