Advice re returning to work after cancer

Hi, I have been on long term sick for 5 years after having had cancer twice. I was put on group income protection and whilst I was off my company was taken over and my role made redundant. What are my rights when I return to work? Does my employee need to provide me with a like for like role when I return? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hope you feel better and made a full recovery. Is there anything in your Employee Handbook about, if your job is made redundant and then redeployment? I would think they would find something along similar lines as before, something to match your 'skill set and experience'.
